Wow. I am having such a not fabulous day. I even wonder if I should write anything, as I'm livid right now, but since part of this blog is to help me feel better, writing it down is ok.

I have been a registered nurse for 20 years this spring. And I work in an area that is pretty oversaturated with nurses, with 4 schools within an hour of my home. Currently, I work in home care, which is very emotionally and physically stressful because all my clients are basically quadriplegics and vent dependent. So, it's actually not surprising that I got hurt with my 300lb patient last fall--being the only person in the home (wife doesn't count, cause she doesn't help). What is surprising is that the insurance adjustor for workman's comp doesn't seem to be able to cut paychecks on time. For the 4th time in 5 months, she "forgot" to cut my check last week and I've been without pay. AGAIN. If an employer doesn't pay his employees, it's a huge legal deal. And if I don't pay my bills, I can be cut off from services. But apparently there is not much I can do when they don't pay me. Pretty sad to be a nurse, but can't get good care from the company we do business with. I'm kinda over the health care industry right now, but it's basically all I've ever done.

On the other hand, my little Scentsy company is building steadily. I believe that my goal will be to build this business so I don't have to depend on nursing and beaurocracy to feed my family. I am very, very close to promoting within Scentsy and earning more $ each month (may even happen in next two days). Who woulda thought? So anyone out there who is looking to be their own boss, and have unlimited earning potential, call me. I'd love to sponsor and mentor you to be a Scentsy Independent consultant and have your very own business. Besides, the products are very high quality, and very popular!

Ok, I'm calmer now. Thanks for reading!

I so wish that everyone out there who even remotely loved candles and scents in their home realized how much better our warmers are than candles or any other plug-ins and home scents on the market.  They are safe, and last much longer, and have so many more scent options!!!! Never saw febreeze or glade offer over 80 scents and over 50 types of decorated warmers! Anyone who reads this and would like to try Scentsy, send me a message and I will totally hook you up!!!

Almost everything in my catalog is 10% off this month and 25 scents are being discontinued. Now is the time to get these awesome products before they disappear! And the brick's (worth 6 bars of scent and  lasts approx 400 hours!) are only $18.00 right now.

Place your order through my webpage today!

Beautiful Monday morning today, albeit cold.  Had a nice, though crazy, weekend. My oldest came home from college and brought a friend. She's a super nice girl and they will be roomates next year at App State. My son enjoyed having them around to hang out with as he gets a little lonely without his sisters around (though he would NEVER admit this).

Saturday was CRAZY. I had to pick up L at a sleepover by 9am and C had to be at band practice at 9am. I went 40 min to pick L up, then to town another 20 to get her friend, and then 40 min to her dad's to drop her off. Still don't know why I was delegated to pick her up! Then I went back to town another 40 min to chaperone all day band practice, and drop off R and her friend to babysit. After standing around at band for 3 hours of doing nothing!, I got out of that duty and had R go pick up L and come back and get me. I then took 5 (yes five!) teenage kids to the mall for 5 hours, and then out to dinner. The waitress at the restaurant was so sweet=she brought me a red velvet cupcake as a reward for taking all those kids out to dinner. It was hilarious. By the time I got home at 10pm, I was sore and grumpy, and had used up almost an entire tank of gas running between 3 cities.

Sunday we at least got to sleep in. And of course, snow was forecast for the northern mountains, where R's college is, and I had to take her back. I considered having them go back in the morning, before the band concert, but she refused. That was actually why they came home this weekend-to see her brother play. So, I borrowed a four wheel drive truck, and around 4 pm when the concert let out, headed up to Boone, NC, very nervous about the heavy snow forecast. And, of course, about half way there, we had to put it in 4 wheel drive and slow down. Made it in good time. The drive back was harrowing though. It was dark by then (its a 2.5 hour drive in good weather). The snow was coming down so hard it was hard to see and it was foggy too. I could barely see the road, and had to drive about 25-30 mph. for 2 hours. Thankfully, the last 1.5 hours it cleared up and was easy sailing the rest of the way home. Hopefully, I won't have to do that again anytime soon.!!!

Glad it is Monday, and that the sun is again shining!!!

The weather doesn't seem to be able to decide how it feels today, and I know how that feels too! Yesterday, it was so sunny I went on a 2 mile (approx) walk with friends, and then woke up to rain today. Sun popped out around 2 and it seems to be disappearing again. And its still February? The dogs even seem to be blahh.  I've cleaned, and done laundry, and played on facebook, etc all day, and still feel blahh!!!

I think parenting teenagers is contributing to this. They are either silent and unengaged in their rooms, or fighting, or gone with friends. I feel like I run a hotel/restaurant who does laundry! And far be it to get a teen to want to talk with their mother!

I took a picture today that brightened up the day though:

Got our new Scentsy buddy in today (in place of the usual warmer of the month). Isn't he cute? His name is Wellington. All ready for crazy weather. The scent of the month is Sunlit Morning, and it smells awesome and really brightens up the house!

Thank goodness for Scentsy and the work I do with that. It keeps me engaged, working with other women, and provides extra income. It's so nice to be able to not worry about $ when ordering a pizza, or being able to go shopping for clothes when there's a good sale. And earning the money to take a trip to Las Vegas is AWESOME!!! I haven't had a non-cheer or band vacation in years, and I'm so excited for 5 days in Vegas this summer. And that's 3 months after getting to chaperone the band competition to Los Angeles this spring!

Off to change out another load of laundry! And, in 2 weeks I get to make my laundry smell like my favorite Scentsy scents! Layers will be available March 1 and I can't wait to use it with my new homemade ($0.01 per load) laundry detergent!! No more paying big bucks in the grocery to do laundry.

Bye for now,
Miriam

Wow. What a day of ups and downs. Spent over two hours this morning organizing coupons and my shopping list. Then, when I finally went to town, I discovered that I had missed my physical therapy appt. (I thought it was at 1:45, but it was at 11:45).  Then I got to the grocery and had forgotten my lists AND coupons at home. And that means an additional 45 minutes driving time PLUS gas for that. But then, I did really well at the store. I stuck to my lists, and spent $54.11 in Bi-Lo with a savings of $57.06 and in Harris Teeter spent $70.50 and saved $59.31. Not bad. Doing well with the grocery bill gives me great satisfaction!!!

This evening, I got a very depressing phone call from my daughter. It's very hard to know what to say to a very down teenager. I wonder what I didn't do right when she was younger, and how I can make her feel better without buying into her materialism. I do remember being 14 as some of the best and some of the worst times of my life. So I need to remember to give her the opportunities to be a normal teen. But I don't like it!!!!

Well off to cook dinner for another teenager, who will come home from evening band rehearsal tired and grumpy.

It's a beautiful day in the mountains--started out VERY foggy, but that has burned off and the view is incredible. Took a picture this morning with the fog still in the valley, and from the mountain top, it appeared as a lake.

I'm trying to get my two younger kids to spend time with each other today, and it's like pulling teeth on my son's end. His little sister moved in with her Dad in mid-December, and he resists spending time with her as they are so different. Anything he wants to do, she says is boring and stupid, and anything she wants to do he feels the same. I can't even get them to agree on a movie!. I so want to just spend time as a family and it's killing me that they can't give a little without making everyone miserable!

Well, my friend Nikki has convinced me that I need to blog, so here goes. Never done this before, and feel a bit stupid, but who doesn't occasionally? Today set out to be a quiet, rainy, stay at home and veg kind of day. I didn't get dressed until noon, and was sitting on the couch reading while my 16 year old son watched Japanese cartoons with subtitles (ugggggg). I was supposed to go grocery shopping, but the rain talked me out of that.  BUT, I got a call from Nikki, and she decided to join my Scentsy team!!!!! YAY!!! I got my first recruit. For those who don't know, Scentsy is a flameless, wickless candle company. I am an independent distributor, and am working to expand my business so that I can have OPTIONS about how I spend my time.  Getting hurt on the job 4 months ago helped make that decision (Workman's comp stinks!!!). So, now I can really see where my business is going, and I spent hours on the phone with Nikki getting her started, and it has revived my passion for all things Scentsy!!!  I have 3 teenage kids (one in college, one in high school and one in middle school), as well as two dogs. Making my home smell good can be a challenge, but with Scentsy it is easy and fun. And I learn more every day about what scents can do for mood and occasion.
